A LEICESTER City Christmas card evokes memories of an era when the shorts were baggy the boots were like tempered steel and the ball was so hard it cut heads open. The Foxes have used a print of a photograph from the February 1914 clash between Leicester Fosse and Leeds City for the limited-edition greetings card. It is the earliest shot of the team in action where you can actually make out the players Press officer Mr Paul Mace said: “All the pictures taken before were rather blurred” by John Richardson. Goalie Herbert Bown is seen rising to collect a cross watched by fellow Fosse players Harold Burton and Timmy Harold. The Fosse who that season escaped having to apply for re-election to the Football League only by goal difference trounced promotion candidates Leeds City 5-1.
