1888-89 Season Summary

Highlights

A “Converted Enthusiast” wrote to The Baptist denouncing football. He had come to the conclusion that the tendency of the game is evil and that “Christians” would be well advised in lending no respectability to it by their patronage.

Loughborough beat Mill Hill House to win the Leicester Senior Cup. Sheepshed FC, cup holders- were controversarily thrown out of the competition at the semi-final stage.

By the end of the season 17 clubs were affiliated to the Leicestershire Football Association.

Since its establishment the Leicestershire Association had contested five inter-county contests, of which three were drawn, one won, and one lost.
