Highlights
The Football League Management Committee formally announced on July 2, 1915, the suspension of the Football League and FA Cup for the duration of the war.
The new Wartime Leagues began in September 1915 and were played to raise funds for the war effort and maintain public morale. The main competitions were the Lancashire Section, the London Combination, and the Midland Section. Leicester Fosse participated in the Football League Midland Section.
Many regular professional players either enlisted in the armed forces or moved into reserved occupations, forcing the club to rely on older players, young recruits, and guest players.
No local cup competitions and just a couple of league competitions (e.g., the Leicestershire Senior League and Leicester Town League) continued operating, with reduced fixtures and depleted squads.
The Leicestershire Senior League was suspended after the 1915-16 season and did not resume until the 1918–19 season.
