John Hutchinson Collection

We are delighted to announce that, with the kind permission of Leicester City Football Club, the Leicestershire Football Archive is now hosting a curated selection of historical features by acclaimed Club Historian and Archivist, John Hutchinson.

For many years, John’s “Heritage” section has been a cornerstone of the award-winning CITY matchday magazine. His deep dives into the club’s vault go far beyond simple match reports; they offer a vivid window into the social history of Leicester, the evolution of the professional game, and the legendary figures who have graced Filbert Street and King Power Stadium.

From the austere, single-sheet programmes of the post-war rationing era to the “Unseen Treasures” of the club’s vast memorabilia collection, these articles represent a lifetime of dedicated research. This digital collection allows fans and historians alike to explore the milestones that shaped the Foxes.

LCFC Locations

There are many locations in Leicester and Leicestershire which have been very significant in the history of Leicester Fosse and Leicester City. Some of the buildings have long gone, some have changed and some are still with us.

LCFC Landlords

Throughout the history of the professional game, players have faced the problem of what to do when they hang up their boots. Many Leicester Fosse and Leicester City players took over pubs, several of which have now disappeared. This season we will be rediscovering and revisiting these ‘Players’ Pubs’ and uncovering the stories about them and about the landlords who ran them.
